As of March 13th, 2010, 240 citizens have been trained in the CERT program.
CERT Advisory Board

Purpose:

The Kent County CERT Advisory Board would have the following purposes:

1. To manage the overall direction of the CERT program
2. To collectively make decisions on grant funding
3. To manage the CERT calendar, including training classes, disaster drills, continuing education, and conferences
4. To plan any social CERT events
5. To manage sponsorships and affiliations with other groups/companies
6. To work together effectively to ensure the sustainability of the CERT program
7. To update and maintain the Kent County CERT Standard Operating Procedures and Field Operating Guide

Duties

President:
Elected Member from CERT team
~Oversee overall CERT program
·~With the Vice President, manage the concerns of the CERT volunteers
~With the advisory board, plan the CERT calendar
~Run monthly meetings of CERT volunteers

Vice President:
Elected Member from CERT Team
~Manage active call outs of volunteers
~Plan disaster drills and operational exercises
~With the President, manage the concerns of the CERT volunteers

Secretary Treasurer:
Elected Member from CERT Team
~Maintain CERT grants and manage grants as the board sees fit
~This is to include but not limited to purchasing items, attending grant meetings and applying for grants as the board deems appropriate
~Attend Regional and County Citizen Corps meetings
~Take minutes at Advisory Board meetings and monthly meetings
~If needed, coordinate fundraising activities

CERT Manager:
This position will be AmeriCorps
~Ensure that equipment and needed supplies are always available for CERT classes
~Maintain and inventory CERT team supplies
~Recruit new CERT team members into training
~Along with the Advisory board, schedule training classes and continuing education
~Identify the training needs of the CERT team and suggest equipment purchases to the board when necessary
~Attend CERT classes to ensure the facilities and equipment are adequate and in order.
~Act as the liaison to victim volunteers and ensure there are an adequate number of them at all necessary CERT exercises and trainings.
~Research possible community events CERT can participate in
~Schedule CERT volunteers for community events
~Act as liaison between event sponsors and participants



Appointed Membership
Appointed membership all have specialties and positions within the community which are directly relevant to Kent County CERT. Their will use their expertise to guide the membership and program in the right direction at Advisory Board meetings.



The Kent County CERT Advisory Board will meet once a month to discuss the program. It will begin meeting in February with just appointed membership, and after elections in May, elected membership will join. Please give your thoughts on the Advisory Board!!! Email feedback to kccert@gmail.com
