Welcome to the Kent County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) website.



Our mission is to train the citizens of Kent County in disaster preparedness.

The program is managed by the American Red Cross of Greater Grand Rapids, Kent County Emergency Management and the Kent County Citizen Corps Council.

We are members of the community working together with:
-Kent County Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service,
-The Kent County Sheriff's Department,
-The Grand Rapids Fire Department,
-The American Red Cross of Greater Grand Rapids,
-Kent County Medical Reserve Corps,
-Kent County Fire Corps

The Training consists of 20 hours of Preparedness and Response classes. This includes awareness-level training in:
-disaster medical triage
-fire suppression
-search and rescue
-disaster psychology
-the Incident Command System.
Also included is certification in American Red Cross First Aid / CPR with AED.
